This book is designed to be a workbook--a resource for writing treatment plans. Be aware, if you buy the Kindle edition, the publisher puts a limit on how much you can copy from it---which means it's usefulness is limited. I can not find anywhere in the text that states there is a copy limit or how much can be copied. The limit came as a complete surprise to me. I find this to be a major flaw in the usefulness of this book for me.
This book saved my life during internship when I was learning to write treatment plans. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is just entering the field, working for an agency, and could use some suggestions for wording things to make the insurance companies happy.
When I was in grad school, vague, unverifiable goals were rejected and concrete and measurable articulations demanded. This manual is full of the vague language that already comes natural to me..."alleviate depressive symptoms..." I was hoping for help to articulate sharper goals and objectives. I did find the inclusion of evidence-based treatments and bibliotherapy suggestions very helpful.
Item not as advertised. I received a "preview copy" of the book that has thinner pages, actual printed errors on the cover, back, and inside, and a different ISBN, as opposed to the actual final published book. I compared mine with a colleague's and it was literally different. This was shocking, probably illegal, and totally unacceptable! I returned it immediately and will purchase from another seller.
As a long time therapist, this book helps jog my memory - it includes many suggested techniques. When a client isn't benefiting as much with treatment modalities, I've found it helps to process some of these suggestions with the client. - This allows the client to be part of the process which gets their buy in & effective therapy resumes! This book also helps with verbiage on Treatment Plans-helps me be more concise! Highly recommend!
I was disappointed with the breadth and scope of clinical interventions. They are repetitive across different problems and show minimum difference and improvement from previous versions. The only positive addition is inclusion of DSM 5 diagnosis.
Also serves as a guide on verbiage and suggestions on short/long term goals for client. As a new therapist I struggle with wording and this book has guided me very well. I hope that there is another one soon with my more diagnoses.
This is so so so helpful for creating treatment plans. It has tons of examples and ideas. There are so many standards and expectations that insurance companies have and they want to see a specific wording and language used. This makes things so much easier and faster so you can spend time doing the valuable work, the actual work with clients.
